Walt's Wanderings

Walt has tagged sea turtles in Southern Mexico and banded red-tailed hawks in California. He has visited 35 national parks (so far), from the serene beauty of the Grand Tetons, to Gates of Arctic National Park, north of the Arctic Circle. He has visited some of the great cathedrals of Europe (Notre Dame, Cologne, La Sagrada Familia, and Catedral Metropolitana de Oaxaca Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, to name but a few). He has attended two Olympic games and a World Cup. From meeting celebrities (including getting to know Sir Richard Burton and having Apollo Creed—Carl Weathers—offer to pay Walt to go the bathroom)– to riding a Zamboni to flying a biplane, and exploring the rugged Baja Peninsula of Mexico, Walt has managed to get around.
He has produced an award-winning film and written two books that made Amazon’s best-seller lists. He was a hiking guide in Denali, and led tours on both land and sea in San Diego. He has written for dozens of magazines and newspapers on hundreds of topics. His photography has appeared in books, magazines, newspapers, and calendars. He has written about travel for Westways, Baja Explorer, the Orange County Register, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and many other publications. He has been quoted about travel in Forbes, USAToday, Columbia Outdoor Guide, World Footprint, and Medium, and he has been a guest on several travel podcasts.
On Walt’s Wanderings, he will share his adventures and perspectives with a new episode to be added each week!
